Carroll Academy closed out the District 1-AA slate of its schedule with a 15-4 loss to visiting Oak Hill Academy Tuesday night in Carrollton.
The Rebels (6-10 overall, 1-7 in district) gave up 10 runs in the first inning, three in the third and two in the fifth. Oak Hill had a total of 10 hits. Carroll scored two runs each in the third and fourth frames.
Andrew Montgomery took the loss on the mound as he went 4 2/3 innings, allowing all 15 runs on 10 hits, walking five, hitting three batters and striking out five. Lofton Holly got the final out in the fifth.
In the third inning for Carroll, Bubba Porter led off with a single and Jacob Cutts doubled to drive in Porter. A single by Montgomery plated Cutts. Logan Neal also singled in the inning.
In the fourth, Gavin Wiltshire walked and scored on a double by Dane Greenlee, who scored on a single by Colby Holly.
Noah Collier had a single in the fifth inning.
Oak Hill won the junior varsity game 12-9. Drew Thomas took the loss as he went 3 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs on seven hits, walking four and fanning two. Zach Downs got the final two outs, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out one.
Thomas had an RBI single, and Hunter Grantham had two singles and an RBI. Logan Hodges had a triple and an RBI, and Greenlee and Crawford Holly had a single each.
In a game from Monday, the Rebels got two grand slam home runs as they rallied from a 9-3 deficit for a 13-10 win in eight innings over Humphreys Academy in Belzoni.
Carroll scored three in the second, six in the sixth and four in the eighth. Humphreys tallied five in the first, four in the third and one in the bottom of the eighth.
Cutts (2-3) got the win on the mound as he went the final five innings, allowing one run on five hits, walking three and striking out three. Porter started and went the first three frames, yielding nine runs on seven hits, walking seven, hitting two batters and fanning two.
In the top of the eighth inning, Porter and Wiltshire led off with a single each, and Montgomery was intentionally walked. Noah Collier stepped to the plate and hit a game-winning grand slam home run.
In the second inning, Greenlee led off with a walk and Crawford Holly reached on fielder's choice. Colby Holly drew a walk and Porter followed with a double that cleared the bases.
In the sixth, Noah Collier started things with a single and Greenlee followed with a double to put runners at second and third. A double by Cutts brought home both runners. Crawford Holly had a doube and Colby Holly walked to load the bases. Wiltshire then hit a grand slam for the Rebels.
Other hits for Carroll were singles by Wiltshire, Cutts and Logan Neal.
