Paul Crosby had 19 points and 11 rebounds as cold-shooting Mississippi Valley State held off Prairie View, 60-58, Saturday night in Itta Bena.
The Delta Devils won their 14th consecutive game, improving to 15-11 overall and 14-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
MVSU won despite shooting just 7 of 29 from 3-point range and 19 of 58 overall.
MVSU hosts Texas Southern at 6 p.m. Monday in a game that will be televised by ESPNU. The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets for the game.
MVSU can clinch the SWAC regular-season title with a victory over Texas Southern.
• MVSU women 63, Prairie View 56: The Devilettes moved into a tie for first place in the SWAC with the victory.
Valley (13-12, 10-4) is tied with Southern (11-10, 10-4), which lost to Alabama A&M, 67-72.
The Devilettes host Prairie View at 3 p.m. Monday.
• Jackson State 63, Grambling State 60: At Grambling, La., Kelsey Howard scored a game-high 27 points, including all the game’s points in the final minute, leading Jackson State in a comeback win.
With Jackson State (7-19, 5-9) trailing 60-59 with 1 minute left, Howard took the game into his hands. He sank a jumper to put JSU up 61-60 and then, after Xavier Rogers missed an attempt at a go-ahead 3 for Grambling, Howard stepped to the line and connected on a pair of free throws with 7 seconds left to seal it.
Howard also knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and tied team highs with five rebounds and three assists.
