Leflore County's Tashun Miller raced to a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter run, and the 4x400 relay team also placed first at the State 2A track meet held Friday at Pearl High School.
Miller, a senior, had a time of 4:44.86 Friday as he won his second straight 1600 state title. He also was first at the North State meet a week ago.
The 4x400 team of Anthony Johnson, Fadarius Fipps, Miller and Kobe Hilliard claimed first with a time of 3:32.70.
The 4x800 team of Johnson, Fipps, Antwon Gibson and Miller took second with a time of 8:51.71, and the 4x200 team of Johnson, Fipps, Willie McCline and Hilliard was fifth in 1:33.43.
McCline raced to a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.36, and he took fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.04.
Kedarius Edwards was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.88, and Maurice Edwards was sixth in the discus with a toss of 116-01.
For the Leflore girls, Dmyia Young placed fourth in the high jump in 4-08, and Tyshekerra Lard was fifth in the long jump in 16-0.
n State 4A Meet: Greenwood High sent three athletes to Pearl Friday for the State 4A meet. Jalen Bedell took fourth in the shot put in 43-11. Pleasant Banks came in fourth in the high jump in 4-11, and Jireh Nevels was seventh in the 100-meter dash.
