A seven-run sixth inning propelled Charleston High School to an 11-3 win over J.Z. George Thursday in North Carrollton.
The Tigers led 4-3 after five innings and put the game away with their outburst in the sixth. The Jags (0-5) scored a run each in the first, third and fifth frames.
Josh Wiggins (0-3) took the loss on the mound as he went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits, walking one and fanning five. Fisher Ratliff went the final three innings, giving up seven runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one.
Josh Johnson had a single and double, and Jacob Johnson had two singles and one RBI. James Pridgen had two singles, scored once and drove in one run. Michael Bankston had a double, and Ratliff had a single.
The Jaguars entertain West Bolivar Monday.
Bruce 15-15, Leflore 0-0 — The Trojans pulled off a doubleheader sweep of Leflore County Thursday in Region 2-2A action in Bruce.
In the first game, Bruce had 11 total hits as it scored six runs in the first, eight in the second and one in the third.
Tyler Spivey (0-3) took the loss as he went the first two innings, allowing 14 runs on 10 hits, walking three and fanning one.
In the second game, Bruce had seven hits as it scored 12 runs in the first and three in the second.
Maurice Edwards (0-2) took the loss as he failed to record an out. He gave up 11 runs on three hits, walking eight. Kevon Birdlong had Leflore's only hit.
Leflore is at Calhoun City for a doubleheader Thursday.
Carroll Academy 20, Calhoun 8 — The Rebels pounded out 15 hits as they picked up a 20-8 win over Calhoun Academy Tuesday to improve to 3-5.
Lofton Holly (1-1) got the win as he went three innings, allowing four runs on three hits, walking seven and fanning one. Andrew Montgomery worked one inning, allowing one run on two hits, and Jacob Cutts pitched two innings, giving up three runs on five hits,
Noah Collier had two singles, a double, scored twice and drove in two. Gavin Wiltshire had two singles, a home run, scored three times and drove in four. Logan Neal tacked on a single and double.
Bubba Porter had two singles and two RBIs, and Colby Holly had a single, two RBIs, stole four bases and scored three runs. Cutts had an RBI single and scored twice. Dane Greenlee had a single and scored twice. Montgomery had two singles, two RBIs and scored three times.
In the junior varsity game, Carroll (4-1-1) won 15-1 as Drew Thomas (2-0) got the win. He went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, fanning five. Hunter Robertson had two singles, Maddox Carpenter had a double and five RBIs, and Greenlee had a single and a double. Logan Hodges had two singles and three RBIs, and Bryce Collier had a single.
Carroll hosts Benton today.
