The Christmas holidays are for spending time with family and, of course, basketball.
Four of the seven Greenwood-area schools will be in action starting Friday in Christmas or holiday tournaments.
Pillow Academy will be in Maben participating in the East Webster Christmas Tournament Friday and Saturday. The Lady Mustangs and Mustangs will play at 3:30 and 5 p.m., respectively, on both days.
PA’s girls will take on South Pontotoc Friday, while the Mustangs will face off against Louisville High School. On Saturday, both Pillow teams will tangle with Tishomingo County.
The Lady Mustangs are 10-8 overall, while the Mustangs stand at 4-6.
Carroll Academy will be in Columbus Friday and Saturday at MUW in the Impact Sports Christmas Tournament. On Friday, the Lady Rebels (11-7) will play West Lowndes at 3 p.m., while the Rebels (6-1) will face Victory Academy at 4:15 p.m.
Saturday, Carroll’s boys play at 12:45 p.m. as they meet Columbus Christian. The CA girls play at 3:15 p.m. against Caledonia High School.
J.Z. George will be in Belzoni to play in the Humphreys County Holiday Tournament. The Lady Jaguars (2-11) and Jaguars (6-7) face off against South Delta at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Friday. Saturday, both teams play again in the early games at 10 and 11:30 a.m. as they meet Simmons High School.
Delta Streets Academy heads to Canton to participate in the Canton Academy Christmas Tournament. The Lions (9-5) will face off against River Oaks (La). Academy at 12:15 p.m. Friday. They will play the host school at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
Greenwood High, Leflore County and Amanda Elzy are not competing in any tournaments and don’t return until Jan. 3-4.
