Former Greenwood High School star Kelsey Brown is carrying on her basketball career.
After two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College, Brown is playing at Belhaven University in Jackson. She was recruited by a couple of other four-year schools, but calls playing for the Lady Blazers the “right fit.”
“The coaches came to a lot of my games and really showed a lot of interest in me as a player and a person,” Brown said.
She moved in her dorm Saturday, with classes starting Wednesday. Brown said unofficial workouts will begin soon after that.
Brown was the Commonwealth’s player of the year during her junior year at GHS, the 2012-2013 season. She missed much of her senior season due to a knee injury.
She was slowed a little during her freshman season at Northwest following surgery on her torn ACL. The 5-foot-7 shooting guard averaged about eight points a game and then about 13 as a sophomore.
Brown was selected to play in the Mississippi juco all-star game to close out her career at Northwest.
