The Greenwood High School boys basketball team swept both of its games earlier this week to reach 6-3 overall.
The Bulldogs, who have won four in a row, knocked off visiting Holmes County Central 51-48 Wednesday night as they rebounded from deficits of 14-10 after the first frame and 28-18 at the half. Greenwood outscored Holmes 19-6 in the third period to grab a 37-34 lead headed to the fourth quarter.
Jaimardrick Lawrence led GHS with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. Montrelle Harris chipped in 13 points and seven assists, and Devontae Darby had nine points, six boards and blocked three shots.
On Tuesday night, the Bulldogs beat Ruleville Central 67-58 in Ruleville. Greenwood led 17-9 after the first period, 35-22 at the half and 52-41 after the third frame.
Jaydon Nwachi led Greenwood with 21 points, three rebounds and two steals. Javardrick Jackson tacked on 18 points, 10 rebounds and two assists, and Lawrence hit for 14 points, grabbed five boards, had four assists and made three steals.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 41-37 decision to Holmes Wednesday to slip to 5-4 overall. Greenwood led 7-6 after one and 18-17 at the half, but Holmes took a 27-26 lead by the end of the third frame.
Alexus Taylor had 16 points and four steals for GHS, and Alexzandria Glover had nine points and six steals. Arieyanna Glover tallied six points and had three boards.
Ruleville nipped the Lady Bulldogs 55-53 Tuesday in a close contest. Ruleville trailed 18-12 after one and 27-26 at the half but took a 43-40 lead after the third frame.
Antwanette Regular had 15 points, three steals and blocked three shots for Greenwood, and Taylor had 14 points and four rebounds. Aliya Herron had eight points and two steals, and Merciana Sandifer had eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Greenwood entertains Cleveland Central Tuesday.
