There’s still one more regular season game left to play, but the Pillow Academy girls soccer team already looks to be in playoff mode.
Senior Madison Barlow scored her first of two goals just 38 seconds after the opening whistle to set the tone for an 8-0 rout of visiting Madison-St. Joe on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Mustangs (10-3-1) have one more home matchup with St. Aloysius on Thursday at 5 p.m. before the postseason kicks off next week.
Senior Georgia Caroline Self found sophomore Avery Howard for Pillow’s second goal nine minutes into the game. The Lady Mustangs made it 3-0 after Barlow finished off a well-placed cross by fellow senior Sarah Presley Howard.
Freshman Addison Weems found the back of the net with 16 minutes to play in the first half. Weems also tallied an assist on Barlow’s first goal.
Self scored with in the 29th minute to stretch Pillow’s lead to 5-0 at halftime.
Elise Howard kept the offensive explosion going in the second half, scoring with 27 minutes remaining. Her twin sister, Avery, joined in on the scoring barrage four minutes later.
Their eldest sister, Sarah Presley Howard, rounded out the Lady Mustangs’ scoring with a goal right at the buzzer to cap off their 8-0 blowout victory.
