Greenwood High’s boys basketball team dropped a 52-49 decision to Region 3-4A foe Gentry High School last Friday in Indianola.
Greenwood (14-6, 3-2) led 10-8 after one, 23-20 at the half and 32-31 after the third.
Markell Johnson had 21 points, five rebounds and two assists, Joseph Warren tacked on 10 points and three boards. Javeon Smith had six points, four rebounds and three assists, James Holmes had five points, six rebounds and four assists.
In the girls game, Gentry won 54-9, dropping GHS to 3-17 and 0-5. Daijah Turner had two points and 12 rebounds. Kaytlin Jones had three points and seven boards.
Greenwood is at Rosa Fort Tuesday.
-Amanda Elzy: The Panthers dropped a 44-41 decision at Yazoo County Friday.
Jacoreyun Miller led Elzy (12-9, 2-2 in Region 3-3A) with 12 points. Caleb Brownlow had nine points, and Keithrick Parker had eight.
In the girls game, Yazoo County won 45-22 as Elzy falls to 14-7 and 3-1.
Kennedy Johnson had eight points for Elzy. Zoreya Beckworth and Alexis Doss had five each.
Elzy hosts Ruleville Tuesday.
-Leflore County: The Tigers dropped a 65-26 Region 3-2A decision to Coahoma County Friday in Itta Bena.
Tavian Dean had eight points, and Dezmond Ray tallied seven for Leflore (5-12, 1-5).
In the girls game, Coahoma won 31-3. Monica Coleman had three for the Lady Tigers (2-15, 0-6).
Leflore is at O’Bannon Tuesday.
