Carroll Academy surrendered 11 runs in the top of the seventh inning as the Rebels dropped a 21-8 decision to Oak Hill Academy Friday in Carrollton.
Oak Hill tacked on one run each in the first, fourth and sixth frames, two in the second and five in the third. The Raiders outhit Carroll 13-5 and took advantage of seven errors in the field.
Carroll (4-5) scored one run each in the first, second and seventh innings, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Drew Thomas (0-1) took the loss as he went two innings, allowing three runs on five hits.
Ryan Logan worked the next three frames, yielding seven runs on two hits, walking seven and striking out four. Ethan Mims went 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on two hits, walking two and striking out one. Lofton Holly failed to record an out as he gave up three runs on four hits.
Reid Blaylock had a single, double, RBI and scored a run for Carroll, and Logan had a single and two RBIs. Maddox Carpenter had a double, RBI and scored a run, and Tyler Brooks had a single and scored twice.
Carroll goes to Greenville St. Joe Tuesday.
- Heritage Academy 12, Pillow 3 — The Mustangs fell to 6-10 overall and 0-3 in District 1-5A with the loss to the Patriots in the series finale Friday night at Coleman Field in Utroska Park.
Trailing 2-0 after one, Heritage scored two runs each in the third and fourth innings, five in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Pillow tacked on a single run in the third. The Mustangs outhit the Patriots 9-6 but made four errors in the field.
Dayne Sanford had a single, double, RBI and scored two runs, and Trace Schmitz had two singles. JC Garrard had a double and scored a run, and Britt Reichle, Nelson Hodges, Brock Makamson and Chamberlain McCain had a single each.
John Heston Powers (0-1) took the loss on the mound as he went the first three-plus frames, allowing four runs on no hits, walking five and fanning two.
Schmitz went 3 2/3 innings, yielding eight runs on six hits, walking four and striking out two. Garrard got one the last out.
Pillow is slated to host Starkville Academy Tuesday with a junior varsity game starting at 4 p.m. and the varsity to follow.
- Bruce 24, Leflore County 0 — The Tigers were held hitless as they dropped a Region 2-2A contest at Bruce Friday night.
Dequarionne Jones and Kamari Buck worked two innings each on the mound for Leflore (0-5 overall, 0-2 in region).
The Tigers host Charleston Tuesday.
