After four years leading the Pillow Academy boys basketball program, head coach Wes Prather is stepping away to focus on his new role as dean of student life.
The new leadership position has a spiritual emphasis, featuring mission and non-mission travel programs, community service projects and other student events.
“I’ve always done some form of ministry ever since I became a Christian over 20 years ago,” Prather said. “Homeless, ministry, youth pastor, spiritual life director and other things at other places and schools.
“As a coach, I’ve always had to juggle between ministry and coaching with my focus and time,” he added. “I’ve been blessed this year to have a few opportunities in a lot of areas to do many different roles in different places, and I am excited about focusing on the development of the whole student body at Pillow Academy.”
The Mustangs went 37-60 overall during the past four seasons under Prather. The search for a new coach remains ongoing.
