Robin Lea is hoping to make her mark in real estate.
Lea, 33, a native of Minter City, earned her real estate license in October and is a sales associate with Landmark Realty in Grenada.
Real estate work runs in her family. She said her mother, grandfather, stepbrother and stepfather are all involved in the business.
“I decided to go with a brokerage (in Grenada) because that’s where my grandfather and my mom worked,” she said. “There, I was a third-generation real estate agent, whereas here I’m just a farm girl.”
She’s spent time not just in Minter City but Grenada, Greenwood and Florida.
She graduated with a degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi in 2010, but real estate seems to be her calling.
In her role, she brings sellers and buyers together to close potential deals.
She’s based in Minter City and travels 35 miles to Greenwood and 42 miles to Grenada.
“I try to make sure that everybody on both sides of my transaction is happy at the end of the day, that they’re going to be happy next week and the years to come,” she said. “I want my clients to come back to me year after year. I want them to refer their family and friends to me. It’s very important that everybody is happy and satisfied at the end.”
So far, she’s closed two deals. “They say in real estate, ‘Don’t expect to close anything in your first year,’” she said. “I feel like I’m doing really well because I’ve closed two this year. That’s been good.”
Her current project is a house just north of Greenwood, located on County Road 150. On Saturday she was spending time welcoming potential buyers.
She said she considers this house her “Hail Mary” and really wants to get a deal done. Calls have come in from places including California, Texas and Canada.
“It was so overwhelming,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh. If this is how real estate is, how can you have more than one listing at a time?’ My phone was not going to stop.”
Lea has a 2-year-old daughter, Ava Knox, who is “something fierce, but she is wonderful,” the divorced mother said. “She’s the funniest little thing.”
Lea is involved with the Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood and the Museum of the Mississippi Delta. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her daughter, kayaking, being outdoors and studying history.
