A suspect allegedly involved in the shooting of a man on Jan. 13 turned himself in to police on Tuesday.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said that Landon Myles Thurman, 24, 32 Park Lane, was charged with one count of aggravated assault. He was released from the Leflore County Jail on $20,000 bond.
According to Craft, Thurman was allegedly a passenger with Roderick Antonio Reedy, 29, who was accused of following and shooting Rakeem Leahman, 27.
Reedy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. At the time of his arrest, police were aware he had a passenger and considered this person a suspect.
The two men allegedly followed Leahman and shot at him while traveling north on Sycamore Avenue onto U.S. 82. Leahman was struck several times in the arm and drove into a ditch but suffered no life-threatening injuries.
Reedy and Thurman allegedly drove north next, with the two men fleeing their original vehicle. Craft said witnesses spotted Reedy stealing another vehicle at Earnestine McNease Apartments and alerted authorities. Reedy was arrested soon after at the intersection of Howard and Jackson streets.
