The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board chose its officers and a new attorney at its Tuesday meeting.
The board chose Dr. Ro’-Shaun Bailey as its president and kept Dr. Kalanya Moore as vice president and secretary.
The board voted 3-2 to ap-point Carlos Palmer as board attorney in place of Kelvin Pulley, who had served the consolidated school board since 2019 and the Greenwood School Board prior to that.
Moore and Henry Fant Jr., the board’s newest member, voted against Palmer’s appointment. Fant said he did so because he had dealt only with Pulley in his brief time on the board. “Carlos and I are friends, but this isn’t about friendship. This is business,” he said.
Moore voted nay based on Pulley’s experience in helping the board work toward seeking a bond issue.
Palmer previously represented the Greenwood Public School Board for six years and Leflore County School Board for almost a year when it was under conservatorship.
