Twenty-five Carroll Academy seniors will graduate Monday.
The ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.
The valedictorian is Ann Hart Smith, and the salutatorian is Georgia Neill.
Smith, 17, lives outside North Carrollton. and is the daughter of Joey and Dana Smith. She has attended Carroll Academy since grade K3.
She is graduating with a 4.0 GPA and will be attending Holmes Community College this fall. She said she hasn’t decided on a major yet.
“It feels really surreal,” Smith said about graduating. “I never thought the day would come, especially when I was younger. I figured it would be forever until I graduated.
“I’m just ready to step into a new point in my life. Meet new people. I’ve been around the same 20 people since I was little. I’m really just ready for a change.”
Neill, 18, is from McCarley and is the daughter of Jim and April Neill. Like Smith, she has attended Carroll Academy since K3.
She has a 4.0 GPA and was named a STAR student.
She will attend Mississippi State University this fall. She has chosen to major in agribusiness with a concentration in policy and law.
“I’m very excited to graduate,” she said. “I’ve had a great time at Carroll Academy throughout my years. I’m very thankful for all my teachers and all my supporters and family and my community.
“It doesn’t only take a community to raise a kid. It takes a community to raise a successful kid. All of my success is due to people around me and my classmates.”
Although both students had 4.0 GPAs, their rank in class was also determined by grades based on a 100-point scale.
