Pastor Robert Kimble knows a thing or two about relationships.
The Indianola native sold insurance for AllState for 30 years before retiring and teaching school, including a stint at Gentry High School, for another decade.
During that time, he’s also pastored multiple churches, including Greenville’s New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for the past 25 years.
Kimble will host a book signing event at Mt. Beulah M.B. Church in Indianola this Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Kimble’s first book, Samson and His Women, has already hit the shelves and is available for checkout at the Henry M. Seymour Library.
It is also available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
“This book is about relationships,” Kimble told The Enterprise-Tocsin. “The whole goal of the book is that people who read the book will get better outcomes with their relationships, in terms of choosing the right mate, in terms of intimacy, in terms of being able to detect counterfeit love.”
Kimble’s book delves into the life of the biblical Samson character, exploring his physical and spiritual strength.
In one chapter, he lists nine steps to choosing a mate.
There’s also a chapter on becoming a “five-star spouse,” likened to a five-star hotel.
“If you’re a one-star spouse, that means you’re doing just enough to stay at the house. It goes all the way up to a five,” he said. “If you get up to a five-star, you’ve got a whole lot of stuff going on.”
Kimble also tells a number of personal stories that relate to relationships and how to achieve better outcomes and resist the pitfalls of sin.
“My book is loaded with scriptures and research. It’s not something that I pulled out of the sky,” Kimble said.
Kimble said he has already written a second book, a novel that he said will be delivered to his publisher this summer.
Kimble’s book singing will be in the fellowship hall at the church.
