The Carroll Academy boys improved to 6-3 with a 56-46 win over Desoto Christian School Thursday at the Winona Christian School Tournament.
The Rebels raced out to a 19-2 lead after the first period but Desoto outscored CA 22-15 in the second to only trail 34-24 at the half. Both teams netted 22 points in the second half.
Landon Grantham led Carroll with 17 points, and Noah Beck chipped in 13. Mathis Beck notched 11 points, and Brennan Blaylock had seven.
The Lady Rebels played Oak Hill Academy Thursday, falling 47-24. The Lady Raiders led 13-0 after one, 28-11 at the half and 41-19 after the third.
Carlie Hoover had 14 points, and Anna Laken Taylor seven for Carroll (4-9). Mary Beth Briggs scored 25 for OHA.
Carroll entertains Greenville St. Joe Tuesday.
-Pillow Academy: The Lady Mustangs and Mustangs both dropped games to Louisville High School Thursday at the East Webster Classic.
The girls fell 55-39 as Louisville led 12-6 after one, 22-17 at the half and 41-21 after the third frame.
Alanna Hodo had 12 points and six rebounds, and Avery Howard had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots for Pillow (10-5), which played Olive Branch Friday at the tournament.
The Mustangs lost 71-50 as the Wildcats led 15-7 after one, 34-19 at the half and 56-35 after the third frame.
Drew Lamb led Pillow (5-9) with 19 points and three rebounds. Grayson Jones had 13 points and six boards for the Mustangs, who played Choctaw County Friday at the tournament.
Pillow visits Magnolia Heights Tuesday.
J.Z. George: The Jaguars dropped a 70-31 decision to New Albany Thursday at the East Webster Classic.
New Albany led 29-10 after the first period, 41-18 at the half and 63-24 after the third.
Rodney Catron led J.Z. George (3-9) with 10 points. BJ Green, Deshaun Hemmingway and Nehemiah Williams had five points each.
J.Z. George is at Humphreys Friday.
