A new country radio station will go on the air in Greenwood July 1.
The City Council met Tuesday with Kepler Martin, manager of the new KIX 92.7, and Tommy Tatum, general manager of its parent company, Delta Radio.
Delta Radio also owns stations in Greenville, Indianola and Cleveland.
KIX 92.7 will be a “hometown country station,” Martin said. The station will be set up at 203A Howard Street.
In other business:
•The inauguration for the mayor and City Council will be held July 3 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Elks Building downtown.
•City Hall and all administrative offices will be closed both July 3 and July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday. Emergency agencies will remain open.
•Because of the holiday, the next City Council meeting will be July 6 at 4 p.m.
•Ward 6 Councilman David Jordan will be Greenwood’s voting delegate for the Mississippi Municipal League. Ward 4’s Charles McCoy and Ward 5’s Andrew Powell will be the alternates.
Mayor Carolyn McAdams, and council members Johnny Jennings of Ward 1 and Lisa Cookston of Ward 2 were not present for Tuesday’s meeting.
