Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Melton of Coila and Tim Woods of Greenwood have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Magen Woods of Oxford, to Jim Daniel Shaw, also of Oxford.
Mr. Shaw is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Shaw of Carrollton.
He is the grandson of Elva Stafford of Covington, Tenn., and the late Lewis Stafford and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Shaw.
Miss Woods is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Matthews of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sowder of Meridian.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Carroll Academy. She currently is attending the University of Mississippi, where she is working toward her degree in managerial finance and investments.
The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Carroll Academy. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.
He is employed at the Baptist Memorial Health-Plex in Oxford and plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy.
The couple will exchange vows at 6:30 p.m. May 17, 2008, in the gardens of the home of Carol Jean and Spann Robertson in Coila.
The Rev. Gary Bunch will officiate.
A reception will be held following the ceremony.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited.
After a honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Oxford.
