Dr. Henry Christmas Waterer III and Dr. Rebecca Rieves Waterer of Jackson announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Joy Kate Waterer, to Dr. Daniel Lewis Gilmer.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Robert Claire Gilmer Jr. of Silver City and the late Jessica Gregg Gilmer.
He is the grandson of Frances Weddle Gregg Schute of Jasper, Georgia, and the late Jesse LeRoy Gregg of Silver City and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Claire Gilmer Sr. of Silver City.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Henry Christmas Waterer Jr. of Tchula and the late Jane Patton Waterer, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Rafel Marshall Rieves of Smithville.
Miss Waterer graduated from Jackson Academy in 2006. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2012 in nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing.
Miss Waterer is currently working as a registered nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Batson’s Children’s Hospital within the emergency department.
Dr. Gilmer is a 2005 graduate of Humphreys Academy. He graduated from Mississippi Delta Community College in 2007, Mississippi State University in 2009 and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2014.
He is currently working as a radiology resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The couple will exchange vows at 5 p.m. March 21 at the Providence Hill Farm in Flora.
