Scotty and Payge Thornton of Carrollton announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Taylor Faye Thornton, to Hunter Welch McCorkle of Vaiden.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of J.J. McCorkle and Keith and Teresa McCorkle, all of Vaiden.
He is the grandson of Maxine McCorkle and Larry McCorkle, both of Vaiden, and Judy Waller of Vaiden and the late Donnie Waller.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Lee-Roy and Claudine Thornton and Glenn and Linda Green of Teoc.
Miss Thornton is a 2014 graduate of Carroll Academy and a 2016 graduate of Itawamba Community College, where she received an Associate of Arts degree. She attends Delta State University, where she will graduate in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences. Miss Thornton plans to pursue a master’s degree in communication disorders.
Mr. McCorkle is 2014 graduate of Carroll Academy and a 2017 graduate of Itawamba Community College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree and a degree in diesel mechanics. He is employed as a diesel mechanic at Stribling Equipment in Greenwood.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at North Carrollton Baptist Church. The Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate.
A reception will follow at North Carrollton Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited.
