Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth George Strickland Jr. of Jackson announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Zora Diana Strickland, to Larry Dale Pittman Jr.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dale Pittman Sr. of Saltillo.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Vera Mims Parker of Hickory and the late Mr. and Mrs. Talvis Filmore Stewart.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Norma Floyd Battle of Brandon and the late Mr. Clifford Hal Battle and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth George Strickland Sr.
Miss Strickland is a 2003 graduate of University Christian School and a 2007 graduate of University of Southern Mississippi, where she received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism with an emphasis in public relations. While at the University of Southern Mississippi, she served as a member and treasurer of Phi Mu sorority and graduated with honors. In May 2010, she received an associate’s degree in occupational therapy from Pearl River Community College. She is a licensed certified occupational therapy assistant.
Mr. Pittman is a 2000 graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy and a 2008 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. In May 2010, he received an associate’s degree in occupational therapy from Pearl River Community College. He is a licensed certified occupational therapy assistant and director of rehabilitation.
The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m. June 1 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Jackson. The Rev. Steve Burton, formerly of Itta Bena, will officiate. A reception will follow at Old Capitol Inn.
