Antonette Marie Sorrell of Greenwood and Aubrey Bell Lucas of Jackson have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.
Miss Sorrell is the daughter of Cora Gilmer Sorrell of Greenwood and the late Robert David Sorrell of Belzoni.
She is the granddaughter of Eugenia Abernathy Sorrell of Brandon, formerly of Belzoni, and the late John Webb Sorrell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ray Gilmer of Belzoni.
Mr. Lucas is the son of Dr. John Fair Lucas Jr. of Greenwood and the late Sethelle Bell Lucas.
He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Fair Lucas Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Hilliard Bell, all of Greenwood.
The bride-elect is a 1994 graduate of Humphreys Academy. She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Delta State University in 1999 and a master's degree in nursing in 2005. She is a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood, Rotary International and the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, and she serves as vice president of the Delta Garden Club.
She is employed at Greenwood Leflore Hospital's Itta Bena clinic.
The prospective bridegroom is a 1978 graduate of Pillow Academy. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1982 and from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1986.
He is employed as an orthopedic hand surgeon in Jackson.
The couple will exchange vows at 11 a.m. Jan. 10, 2009, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood.
The Rev. Matt Rowe will officiate.
