Georgia Roberts Smith and Samuel Elliott Thornburg were united in marriage at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2016, at North Greenwood Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Troy Smith of Greenwood. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Roberts of Winona and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hodges of Carrollton and Joan Smith of Carrollton and the late James Briton “Pete” Smith.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Thornburg Jr. of Greenwood. He is the grandson of William C. Thornburg Sr. of Greenwood and the late Elizabeth Ann Thornburg and Edward Baker of Greenwood and the late Helen Grace Elliott.
The Rev. Ricky Wheat of Greenwood officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless ballgown featuring a pleated bodice and crystal detailing, along with a lace applique overlay.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her friend, Arie Elizabeth Strain of Itta Bena.
The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Historic Elks Building in downtown Greenwood.
The couple is at home in Greenwood. The bride is an X-ray technologist at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, and the groom is employed at Home Improvements Plus in Greenwood.
