Natalie Rebekah Smith and Randall Patton Borland were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on April 2, 2011 at Mountain Brook Community Church in Birmingham.
The Rev. James A Tucker III officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Myrick Smith of Jackson.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs James Clifton Tyler and the late Mr. Tyler and Mrs Gordon Lee Smith and the late Mr. Smith, all of Greenwood.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Borland III of Birmingham.
He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Aubrey Wilson King of Birmingham and the late Mr. William Howard Borland, Jr. and Mrs. Wyatte Holcombe Brock of Birmingham.
The wedding ceremony was held at the historic Avon Theatre in Birmingham.
The bride wore an ivory designer strapless gown with empire lace and a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice had subtle pleated detail of soft tulle and a layered train of beautiful lace scalloping along the bottom of the train of the dress and across the sweetheart neckline.
She wore a single layer, elbow-length veil borrowed from friend Kate McIntosh Graham.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet with an assortment of peonies, white roses and freesia. Around her bouquet, she carried a handkerchief given to her by her maternal grandmother.
The bridesmaids wore strapless silk taffeta knee-length gowns in pistachio.
Their bouquets were hand-tied assortments of green hydrangeas and white roses.
The bride’s mother wore a taffeta gown in peony with a ruche bodice and A-line skirt. The dress had a matching off-the-shoulder ruche wrap.
The mother of the groom wore a taffeta gown in Pacific ocean that featured a ruche bodice and matching bolero jacket.
The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Clair Smith Belknap of Hattiesburg.
Bridesmaids were Katie Carr Braddy of Madison, cousin of the bride; Rachel Townes Green of Birmingham, Barclay Borland Gresham of Birmingham, sister of the groom; and Missy Perryman Morgan of Dallas Texas. The groom’s niece, Barclay Brooke Gresham of Birmingham, served as junior bridesmaid.
Ava Ruth Borland, niece of th groom, and Walter Lee Gresham IV, nephew of the groom, both of Birmingham, served as the flower girl and ringbearer.
Groomsmen were William Howard Borland IV, brother of the groom; Walter Lee Gresham III, brother-in-law of the groom; Jacob Arthur Hayes and Jacob Austin Shevin, all of Birmingham. John Coleman Tyler of Greenwood, cousin of the bride, served as junior groomsman.
Ushers were Charles Lindsey Belknap of Hattiesburg, brother-in-law of the bride; and Thomas Adam Casey of Alabaster, Ala.
The church was decorated with two large, round candelabras with pillar candles wrapped in ivy, and one large arrangement on a wooden pedestal with tall, wispy greenery and creamy white and blush roses, tulips, delphinium, and hydrangeas.
Two iron candle stands lined the entrance of the sanctuary with glass globes and pillar candles, creamy white and blush roses and green hydrangeas tied with satin ribbons and bows.
Pews were marked with wispy greenery, creamy white and blush roses and baby roses with green hydrangeas tied with satin ribbons and bows.
A tall arrangement adorned the foyer with roses, hydrangeas, stock snaps in creams and tulips in greens and whites.
Ceremonial music was provided by Jacquie Long, pianist; Christopher Carr, guitarist; Brant Beene, mandolinist and Julie Denson, soloist.
After Class Band provided the reception entertainment.
The four-tier vanilla almond bridal cake with white butter cream icing was adorned with the couple’s monogram and an array of roses.
The groom’s table featured a trio of strawberry, chocolate and carrot cakes.
The tables were arranged with a single pillar candle flanked by wispy greenery, creamy white roses, green hydrangeas, snaps and tulips sitting on top of iron candlestands.
Tall glass cylinder vases were tied with satin ribbon similar to the bridesmaid’s bouquets.
Votive candles sat on each of the tables.
By the bride’s cake were two large pillar candelabras with pillar candles, roses, hydran-geas and other greenery cascading from the candelabra.
The day before the wedding, the bride, bridesmaids, mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom were treated to a luncheon at the home of Gay Cole of Birmingham, cousin of the bride.
Co-hostesses included Ethel King, grandmother of the groom; Edith Lester, cousin of the bride; and Margie Myrick, great aunt of the bride.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted an after-rehearsal dinner at Mountain Brook Country Club.
A few weeks following the wedding, a celebration was hosted in honor of the newlywed couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Buster Wellington of Flowood.
Mr. and Mrs. Borland reside in Birmingham where the bride is a third grade teacher and the groom owns Artwear Design, a screen printing company.
