Mary Katherine Sims and Joshua Patrick Whelan were united in marriage on April 10, 2010, at Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson.
The Rev. Charles Eugene Poole officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kirkland Sims of Jackson.
She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Dale Stockstill of Picayune and Peggy Kirkland Sims of Jackson and the late Pat Sims.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Michael Whelan of Greenwood.
He is the grandson of the late Rev. and Mrs. John Pennington Ragsdale and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Albert Whelan.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a designer gown of ivory silk fashioned with a molded strapless neckline. The princess seamed waist-line was encircled with a belt of satin and handmade silk flowers and crystals, and the mermaid skirt fell drifting into a chapel train. With her gown she wore an Alencon edged veil worn by her mother on her wedding day in 1981.
She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, vendella and avalanche roses and ranunculus and lisianthus wrapped in an heirloom hankerchief belonging to the bride's great-great-grandmother.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Claire Douglas Sims.
Bridesmaids were Susan Hall Anderson, Mary Anne Bullock, Katherine Pruette Farris, Sara Tyson Husband, Katie Leigh Korb, Jennings Whelan Luster, Trudy Amanda Massey, Lauren Taylor Pickering, Margaret Elizabeth Sheridan, Caroline Wicker Sims and Kathleen O'Connor Taylor.
Honor attendants were Katherine Wright Allen, Stephanie Ann Henson, Katherine Rice Hutchinson, Sarah Shepherd Knight, Emily Evans Stacy and Virginia Sheley Taras.
Flower girl was Sarah Bethany Greener.
Serving as best man was William Michael Whelan, the groom's father. Groomsmen were Sy Russell Easterling, Scott Andrew Goldberg, Frank Joseph Gusmus Jr., Brent Montague Hardin, John Taylor Howell, Paul Alexander Kosko, Thomas McCay Luster III, Jonathan Robert Nichols, Ronald Wade Robertson Jr., Jacob Ragsdale Whelan, brother of the groom, and John Lee Marshall Wood.
Ushers were Michael Jason Archer, James Christopher Champion, James Henry Hargrove III, Owen Jefferson Jones Jr., Hunter Dawson McRight and Clifton Charles Mosteller.
The ring bearer was Adams Drake Kennedy.
After the ceremony, guests were entertained at a reception at the Mississippi Museum of Art in downtown Jackson, where they danced to the music of the Craig Duncan Orchestra of Nashville.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted an elegant dinner at the Capital Club.
Following a honeymoon trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple is at home in Oxford.
