Lore Haggerty Ross of Everson, Wash., and Robert L. "Buddy" Beard III of Fernandina Beach, Fla., announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Haggerty of Laurinberg, N.C., and the late Bobbie Haggerty, formerly of Black Hawk.
She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Shumate, formerly of Black Hawk.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Leon McKay of Greenwood and the late Mr. McKay and Bob Beard, both formerly of Black Hawk.
He is the grandson of the late Loislene and Oscie Lee Jr., formerly of Carrollton, and Florence Beard of Black Hawk and the late Robert L. "Boy" Beard.
The couple are former classmates and 1984 graduates of Carroll Academy.
The bride-elect attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash., and is employed by the Nooksack Valley High School in Everson, Wash.
The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Chaminade University of Honolulu and is a chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy, stationed with the Atlantic Submarine Fleet at King's Bay, Ga.
The couple will exchange vows in a double-ring ceremony at 6:30 p.m. April 8, 2011, at Carrollton Baptist Church in Carrollton.
Attendants will be their children: River, Savannah, Mackenzie and Lakota Ross and Bobby Beard.
The Rev. David Haggerty of Carrollton, brother of the bride-elect, will perform the nuptials.
Friends and family of the couple are invited to attend the celebration.
