Judith Riley of Merigold announces the engagement and forthcoming wedding of her daughter, Marilyn Kate Riley of Merigold, to Joseph Heath Atkins of Columbus.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Atkins of Columbus.
He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Sloan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Atkins.
The bride-elect is the daughter of the late James Riley Jr.
She is the granddaughter of the late Nettie Purvis, the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Roy, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Riley Sr.
Miss Riley is a 1998 graduate of Bayou Academy and attended Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University, where she majored in photography.
She is employed by Viking Range Corp., where she is the culinary buyer and inventory manager.
Mr. Atkins is a 1989 graduate of Lee High School. He earned an associate’s degree in electronics technology and instrumental technology from East Mississippi Community College, Golden Triangle.
He is employed by Waters Truck and Tractor, where he works in the parts department.
The prospective groom is the drummer for the C-City Band.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. April 24, 2010, at Merigold Baptist Church.
Following the ceremony a reception will be held in the church fellowship hall.
