Jessica Leigh Phillips and Nathaniel Post Sturdivant were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. May 1, 2010, on the lawn of the Dauphin Surf Club in Dauphin Island, Ala.
The Rev. Ricky Reece officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Eugene Phillips Sr. of Black Hawk.
She is the granddaughter of Betty McAllen of Augusta, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Carter Phillips.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rogers Sturdivant of Minter City.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Louis Post Jr. and the late Mr. Post and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pleasants Sturdivant.
Nuptial music was provided by guitarist Sid Barger.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown in ivory chiffon with a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice trimmed with glass beads and a chapel length train. Her veil was of chiffon with seed pearl edging. The bride wore her mother's diamond drop necklace, a fresh water pearl bracelet and matching earrings. The bouquet was a cascade design of Stargazer lilies, white snapdragons, purple dendrobium orchids and yellow miniature carnations accented with Italian ruskus and bear grass.
The maid of honor was Miss Lauren Barner of Greenwood.
The bridesmaids were Jennifer Sykes of Indianola and Katie Yates of Inverness.
The flower girl was Ayla Christine Sturdivant.
Thomas Rogers Sturdivant of Minter City served his son as best man.
Groomsmen were Allen Carter Sturdivant of Savannah, Ga., brother of the groom; and Matt Hodges of Oxford.
The ring bearer was Master Ashton Thomas.
Master Gibb Thomas served as usher.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the clubhouse at the Dauphin Surf Club with dining under the stars in the courtyard.
The three-tiered white bride's cake was accented with white chocolate sea shells, and the groom's cake was a Black Forest chocolate cake, both cakes were prepared by the bride's mother. Music was provided by guitarist Sid Barger of Electric Mudd.
Following their honeymoon at Henderson Park Inn in Destin, Fla., the couple will make their home on Eutaw Plantation in Minter City.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents entertained the bridal party and out of town guests with a luau at St. Francis Episcopal Church's Wilkin's Parish Hall in Dauphin Island, Ala.
