Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Reginald Thames of Laurel announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Katherine, to Marcus Daniel Biggers II.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Allen Biggers of Greenwood.
Mr. Biggers is the grandson of Mrs. James Marion Busby and the late Mr. Busby of Brandon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Daniel Biggers of Greenwood.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Thames of Decatur and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Raymond Davis of Greenwood.
Miss Thames is a graduate of R.H. Watkins High School, where she graduated with highest honors.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. She also earned a doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2008 from Mississippi State University.
She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, where she served as secretary. She was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
The bride-elect is employed by Horn Lake Animal Hospital, where she is a small animal veterinarian.
The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Pillow Academy, where he earned highest honors.
Mr. Biggers is a graduate of Mississippi State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology.
He is a 2009 graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
While in school, he served as vice president of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
He is a resident in orthopedic surgery at Campbell Clinic in Memphis.
He is a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Society of Scholars and Mississippi State University Hall of Fame.
The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m. Feb. 6, 2010, at First-Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel.
