Jimmie Lane Melton Jr. and Nena Pennington Melton of Drew announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Anna Marie Melton, to Richard Andrew Bennett of Avalon.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Bobby Bennett and Cindy Jackson Bennett of Avalon.
He is the grandson of Bryan and Bettye Tingle Jackson of Avalon and the late Gary and Lela “Codie” Thompson Bennett.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Kenneth Pennington and Ann Word Penning and the late Jimmie Lane Melton Sr. and Elizabeth Chandler Melton.
Miss Melton is a graduate of North Sunflower Academy and Mississippi Delta Community College, where she received an Associate of Arts degree in English. She is a graduate of Delta State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in elementary education and a Master of Education degree in elementary education. She is pursuing a specialist’s degree in supervision and administration. At Delta State, she is a member of the Baptist Student Union and Phi Mu Fraternity. She was named to honor societies Phi Theta Kappa, Lambda Iota Tau, Kappa Delta Pi and Omicron Delta Kappa. She is a member of Drew Baptist Church.
Miss Melton is employed as an elementary teacher in the Cleveland School District and is a Beautycounter consultant.
Mr. Bennett is a graduate of Winona Christian School and Holmes Community College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in pre-med. He is a graduate of Hinds Community College, where he received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in physical therapy assistant.
While in college, he was a member of the Baptist Student Union and Wesley Foundation. He is a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Mr. Bennett is employed at Quality Medical in Greenwood.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Drew Baptist Church in Drew. The Rev. Stan Wafler and the Rev. Dennis McKay will officiate.
A reception will follow at the fellowship hall of Drew Baptist Church.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited.
