Mr. and Mrs. John William McPherson Jr. of Indianola announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Dr. Taylor Scott McPherson of Birmingham, Ala., to Dr. John Anderson Banahan, also of Birmingham.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson Banahan of Pascagoula.
He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson Chamberlin Jr. of Columbus, Mrs. Hart Anderson Banahan of Jackson and Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Franklin Banahan Jr. of Rock Springs, Texas.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richmond Lewis Scott Poindexter Jr. of Inverness and Mrs. John William McPherson of Indianola and the late Mr. McPherson.
Dr. McPherson is a 2003 graduate of the Indianola Academy and a 2007 graduate of the University of Richmond in Virginia, where she graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
In 2011 she received her M.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and is currently in her first year of residency in cbstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital.
Dr. Banahan is a 2002 graduate of Pascagoula High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he earned a B.A. in Biology and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Nu fraternity.
He received his M.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2011, and is now in his intern year of residency at Baptist Hospital in Birmingham and will go on to complete his training in radiology at UAB.
The couple will be united in marriage on April 14, 2012, in Rose Hall, Jamaica.
