Albert McKenzie of North Carolina and Gwen McKenzie of Midnight have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Sionme McKenzie of Midnight, to Deitrick Smart of Itta Bena.
Mr. Smart is the son of Nadine Granderson of Itta Bena and Barren George of Birmingham, Ala.
He is the grandson of the late Beulah and Otis Payne of Itta Bena and Mary Harrison of Chicago.
Miss McKenzie is the granddaughter of Lucille and Albert McKenzie of Belzoni and Teretha Lee of Midnight.
The bride-elect graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She currently is working toward a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Phoenix.
The prospective groom graduated from Mississippi Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. He also received a master’s degree in recreation and sport management from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. June 27, 2009, at New Green Grove Church of Faith in Greenwood.
Bishop Milton Glass will officiate.
Following a honeymoon in Los Cabos, Mexico, the couple will reside in Tuscon, Ariz.
