Mr. and Mrs. Michael Edward McGee of Canton announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, May Isabel Vaughan McGee of Greenwood, to Tripp McCarty, also of Greenwood.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Henry McCarty Jr. of Camden. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Malone Hughes and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Henry McCarty, all of Greenville.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. James O. Cearly of Ridgeland and the late Mr. Clyde Thomas McGee of Canton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thompson Mounger of Canton.
A graduate of Canton Academy, Miss McGee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of Mississippi, where she became a member of Kappa Delta sorority, and a Master of Science degree in public relations at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is employed as marketing manager at The Alluvian in Greenwood.
Mr. McCarty, also a graduate of Canton Academy, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Mississippi College. He is employed as head football coach in the Athletic Department at Pillow Academy in Greenwood.
The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the University Club in Oxford.
