Anna Lauren Makamson of Madison and Robert Lloyd Hesson of Spring Hill, Tenn., were united in marriage at 5 p.m. June 7, 2008, at Paris-Yates Chapel in Oxford.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Joe Makamson of Phillipston.
She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Juanita Whatley of Moorhead and the late Mr. Whatley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Loyce Makamson of Phillipston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Hesson of Brentwood, Tenn.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Harold L. Hicks of West Memphis, Ark., and the late Mr. Hicks and Mrs. Philip R. Hopper of Cordova, Tenn., and the late Mr. Robert T. Hesson.
The Rev. Steven Edward Burton of Franklin, Tenn., officiated the ceremony.
Organist Mary Poole of Oxford provided nuptial music.
The antique door of the chapel was adorned with a wire cone overflowing with cream Eskimo roses, hydrangeas, lilies, French tulips, trailing ferns, garden foliage and ivy for an inviting entrance. The altar table was flanked by two garden-style arrangements in urns of stargazer lilies, shades of pink and cream roses, belles of Ireland, hydrangeas, star of Bethlehem, bouvardia, French tulips and cascading ferns. Pews were marked with clusters of lilies, roses, tulips and an assortment of garden foliage.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory re-embroidered Alencon lace and silk organza designed by Christos. Her fitted gown featured a sweetheart neckline detailed delicately with a triple layer of organza. A sash of ivory silk satin ribbon accentuated her waist. Her slim skirt flowed into a chapel-length train and was finished with layers of flounced organza. She wore her sister's tiered walking-length veil of silk illusion, which featured appliqued Alencon motifs adorning the edge.
She carried a garden-style bouquet of ivory spray roses, cream Eskimo roses, hot and light pink roses, stephanotis accents and touches of green hypericum with stems wrapped in ivory satin. Attached to her bouquet were the bride’s infant Bible and a hand-stitched antique bonnet worn home when she was born.
Serving as matron of honor was Kristen Makamson Trusty of Phillipston, sister of the bride. Serving as maid of honor was Dr. Natalie Celeste Makamson of Madison, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Lauren Leslie Hughes of Brandon; Jessica Dawn Hesson of Brentwood, sister of the groom; and Tilina Hesson Hill of Murfreesboro, Tenn., sister of the groom.
The bridal attendants wore tea-length gowns of apple green lame designed by Vera Wang. Their empire bodices featured sweetheart necklines and were finished with bands of apple green grosgrain. They carried romantic garden-style bouquets of hot and light pink roses, green hydrangeas and touches of green hypericum with stems wrapped in soft pink satin.
Robert W. Hesson served his son as best man.
Groomsmen were Jason Keith Campbell of Murfreesboro; Jonathan Richard Gore of Franklin; William Jake Griffin of Brentwood; Jeremy Adam Hill of Murfreesboro, brother-in-law of the groom; and Daniel Andrew Poston of Brentwood.
Ushers were Phillip Edward Bates of Brentwood, Andrew Fite Galbierz of Brentwood and Andrew Turner Kelley of Nashville, Tenn.
The bride's mother wore a two-piece ensemble featuring a Chantilly lace top with a skirt of bronze cashmere dupioni silk. She carried a clutch nosegay of ivory and cream roses with stems wrapped in coordinating satin.
The groom's mother wore a long tiered one-piece dress of champagne silk. She carried a clutch nosegay of ivory and cream roses with stems wrapped in coordinating satin.
Julia Love Lyon of Greenwood and Caroline Elizabeth Makamson of Morgan City served their cousin as flower girls. They wore matching French hand-sewn dresses of embroidered insertion of ecru and white batiste, made by the bride's aunt, Sue Makamson. They carried smaller versions of the bridesmaids' bouquets.
Program attendants were Kaeli Cora Holeman of Cruger, Whitni Brinn Holeman of Cruger, Callie Lane Lyon of Greenwood, Mary Helen Makamson of Morgan City, Sara Butler Makamson of Morgan City and Shelby Kate Taylor of Moorhead, cousins of the bride.
The wedding directors were Joan Langston of Clinton, a friend of the bride's family, and Marybeth Marchbanks of Oxford.
Floral decorations were designed by Ashley Daniels of Oxford.
Following the ceremony, the couple, along with their wedding party, departed in the Oxford trolley.
The stairway entrance to the Oxford University Club was decorated with an assortment of painted pails with flowers of green, pink and white accents tied to the stairway railing with apple green grosgrain ribbon.
The University Club catered a seated dinner reception on the third floor. On the foyer table was the bride’s book, a mixed floral arrangement and pale green decorated baskets with rose petals to shower the departing couple. On the sideboard was a large mixed floral arrangement and silver trays filled with mints in initialed bags to give to the guests by the reception attendants as they departed.
Reception attendants were Tyler Reed Holeman of Cruger, Ann Lamar Jefcoat of Itta Bena, William Smith Lyon of Greenwood, Anderson Wesley Smith of Greenwood, Lillian Lockley Smith of Greenwood and Mary Katelyn Whatley of Indianola, cousins of the bride.
The head table was decorated with an antique army navy cloth, two large silver trumpet vases filled with a mixed floral arrangement of light and hot pink roses, hydrangeas, belles of Ireland, gerberas and assorted ferns and large crystal rose bowls with smaller floral versions of the trumpet vases. Guest tables were decorated with alternating rose bowl arrangements and silver trumpet vase arrangements coordinating with the head table.
The bride's table was decorated with an antique hand-stitched linen cloth draped with a lush garland of tiny leafed smilax. The bride's round three-tiered white butter cream cake was encircled with apple green satin displayed on a silver plateau. It was decorated with a nosegay of pink and cream roses on the top and scattered petals around the silver base.
On the sideboard, the groom’s cake was an assortment of different flavored cheesecakes displayed on iron bases of varying heights. The wedding cake was created by Chow Cakes.
After the dinner, guests were entertained with music and dancing on the atrium. Tables were decorated with crystal rose bowls with floating blossoms and alternating rose bowl arrangements with roses of coordinating colors and mixed flowers. Music was provided by the King Beez.
Following a wedding trip to the Sandal's Resort in Jamaica, the couple is at home in Spring Hill, where the bride is employed as an occupational therapist with Maury Hospital and the groom is a project manager with Psychiatric Solutions in Franklin.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents honored the couple, the wedding party, family and friends with a rehearsal celebration at the Levee.
Wedding festivities honoring the couple included a "Set the Table" shower hosted by cousins of the bride at the home of Lane Lyon. Friends of Westminster Presbyterian Church hosted a miscellaneous shower. Lauren Hughes, Kristen Trusty and Natalie Makamson hosted a dinner party and movie night presenting the bride with miscellaneous gifts and lingerie at the home of Kristen Trusty. They also were treated to an Alluvian Spa party the next day. Lauren and Marilyn Hughes hosted a bridal shower luncheon at Sophia's Restaurant at the Fairview Inn in Jackson. The bride's occupational therapy friends hosted a miscellaneous shower at Summer Godfrey's home in Madison. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Melton was the setting of a wedding celebration given by friends of the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Coolidge Campbell hosted a handyman shower and barbecue lunch at their home in Franklin.
