Katherine Ryan Kimmel and Brett Hamilton Meeks were united in Christian marriage at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood in the company of family on the evening of April 9, 2016.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Anthony Kimmel of Greenwood. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Smith Kimmel of Greenwood, Mrs. Frank Stewart Kimmel Jr. of Houston and the late Mr. Kimmel, the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Graham Gammill and Mr. and Mrs. David Conrad Branham Jr. of Greenwood.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Ritchie Thompson of Collierville, Tennessee, and Mr. Edgar Alston Meeks of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jones Barksdale Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Raymond Meeks.
Officiants for the wedding service were the Rev. Dr. Fred Craven Douglas and the Rev. Doyne Ray Smithee, both of Greenwood.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a simple ivory satin gown with a surplice bodice and a floor-length straight skirt. She wore her late grandmother's pearls enhanced with an emerald and diamond broach that belonged to her great-grandmother.
Hollis Kimmel Bradley of Monroe, Georgia, served her sister as matron of honor. Edgar Alston Meeks Jr. of Memphis served his brother as best man.
Following the service, the bride's parents hosted a dinner at Giardina's Restaurant.
After a brief trip to the Grand Resort at Point Clear, Alabama, the couple is at home in Washington D.C., where the bride is a policy associate at Linchpin Strategies. The groom serves as health counsel to the majority office of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee under Chairman Lamar Alexander of Tennessee.
