Sally Elizabeth Holliday of Carrollton and John Huff Walker III of Carrollton were united in marriage at 6 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2013, at North Greenwood Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Joe Holliday of Carrollton.
She is the granddaughter of Alice Allison Kealhofer of Greenwood and the late John Burkhart Kealhofer and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert K. Holliday.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Huff Walker Jr. of Carrollton.
He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Huff Walker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edmund Waring.
Dr. Jim Phillips officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Ceremony music was provided by Ray Mattox, pianist, Patricia Ethridge, organist, and Jessica Blaire Perkins and Jonathan Stacey Phillips, both vocalists.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an antique white gown originally worn by her mother in 1981. The fitted bodice with a portrait neckline was embellished with Alencon lace and gentle lace cap sleeves. The A-line skirt overlaid in silk organza was covered with Alencon medallions and was trimmed with wide edging. The back of the skirt flowed into a cathedral-length train. Her grandmother’s antique brooch was worn on her waist. She wore a handmade ballet-length veil with a lace border. The bride wore a diamond and sapphire necklace, which belonged to the bride’s maternal grandmother. She also wore a pearl and diamond bracelet. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory roses with an heirloom sleeve that was worn by bride’s mother in her wedding.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Mariclaire Louise Fancher of Greenwood, and Melissa Pigott Britt of Itta Bena served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Emily Christine Braswell of Tucson, Arizona; Ann McKay Bratton of Itta Bena; Madison Frances Browne of Birmingham, Alabama; Katherine Rose Duggan of Jackson; Katherine Walker Fedric of Grenada; Hannah Rich Gwin of Jackson; Anna Katherine Kendall of Jackson; Sarah Marie Leard of Jackson; Christina Thomasouna Person of Lafayette, Louisiana; Lynn Mullen Russell of Jackson; Sarah Walker Thach of Greenwood; and Courtney Erickson Walker of Greenwood.
The bridesmaids wore black floor-length dresses, each featuring a sweetheart neckline and a criss-cross halter with a Charmeuse skirt and chiffon overlay.
Honorary bridesmaids were Kimberly Elizabeth Griffin of Indian Shores, Florida; and Lindsey Michelle Hatcher, Carre Earnest Roberson and Mauri Edwards Smith, all of Greenwood.
John Huff Walker Jr. served his son as best man.
Groomsmen were Troy Benjamin Ellis of Houston, Texas; Paul Raymond Fedric of Grenada; James Lawson Gary of Greenwood; Lauren Miller Green of Greenwood; Andrew Joe Holliday Jr. of Greenwood; Benjamin Todd McMullan of San Francisco, California; Allen Hobbs Mize of D'Iberville; Dudley Gordon Phelps IV of Starkville; Daniel Pullen Smith of Greenwood; Larry Earl Smith of Glendora; and John Clifton Thach Jr., Robert Christopher Walker and Tommie Gregory Williams Jr., all of Greenwood.
Flower girls were Martha Faith Fedric, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Raymond Fedric of Grenada, and Sarah Douglas Thach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clifton Thach Jr. of Greenwood.
The ring bearer was John Clifton Thach III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Clifton Thach Jr. of Greenwood.
Claire Bowen Smith of Greenwood was the program attendant.
A reception followed the wedding ceremony at Kirk Brothers Warehouse in Greenwood.
Handmade white pottery snowflake ornaments made by Rima Williams and Karen Archer were given to guests at the reception as a memento.
At the reception, entertainment was provided by The Connection Band from Birmingham, Alabama.
The bride’s cake was a four-tiered round white cake decorated with fresh white roses and hydrangeas with a mini bride and groom topper that was used by bride’s mother, grandmother and aunt.
The groom’s cake was a two-tiered chocolate square cake topped with chocolate covered strawberries. The groom’s table was decorated in a hunting and fishing theme with mini bags of trail mix provided for guests.
The buffet was catered by The Crystal Grill.
The wedding director was Heather Houston Williams.
On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Greenwood Country Club.
They surprised the bride with an Elvis impersonator.
After a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple are making their home in Madison.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Pillow Academy and a 2009 graduate of Mississippi State University. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing.
She is employed as a registered nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Pillow Academy and a 2002 graduate of the University of Mississippi. He is a student at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Occupational Therapy School.
