Janice Denise Gideon of Memphis and A.W. Ross Jr. of Itta Bena announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Lue Ella Ross of Itta Bena and A.W. Ross Sr. of Picayune.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Martha Brown of Greenwood and George Sutherland of Kansas City, Mo.
Miss Gideon is a 1981 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1988 graduate of Mississippi Delta Community College, where she received an associate’s degree in nursing. She is a 2006 graduate of the University of Memphis, where she received a Bachelor of Science in nursing. While at the University of Memphis, she was selected for membership in Pinnacle, which is the national honor society for adult non-traditional students. She is employed as a nurse at Delta Medical Center in Memphis and as a traveling nurse for U.S. Nursing Corporation.
Mr. Ross is a 1981 graduate of Leflore County High School and attended Mississippi Valley State University.
The couple will exchange vows at 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 at House of Prayer and Praise New Life Community church, located at 412 Ave. H in Greenwood. Pastor Ruby Brown will officiate.
A reception will follow at the National Guard Armory on Sycamore Avenue.
Friends and relatives of the couple and Greenwood High and Leflore County High schools classes of 1981 are invited.
