Melissa Catherine Fleming of Tupelo and Kevin Ross Thornburg of Greenwood were united in marriage on Nov. 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Pell City, Ala.
The bride is the daughter of Kimberly Wilson Fleming of Brandon and Dr. Samuel Ernest Fleming III of Guntown.
The groom is the son of Linda Rogers Thornburg of Greenwood and the late Ray Carlus Thornburg Jr.
Dr. John Thweatt, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the double-ring and hand-blessing ceremony.
Organist Cheryl Fagan provided the nuptial music.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white strapeless beaded lace trumpet gown, featuring a sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of yellow calla lilies, circus roses, red and yellow gerbera daisies, variegated pittosporum and cotton.
Attending her sister as maid of honor was Kristen L. Fleming of Birmingham, Ala.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Ham of Baldwin, Jennifer Stribling of Pearl, Kristen Rushen of Pell City, Shae Register of Birmingham, and Hannah Hood of Collinsville, Ala.
All wore poppy-colored floor-length satin dresses.
Junior bridesmaids were the bride’s nieces, Jaci and Charli Fleming of Chelsey.
Serving as flower girl was Adley Bentley, daughter of Erin and Brandon Bentley of Orange Beach, Ala.
The ring bearer was Thomas Clausen, son of Kristen Rushen of Pell City, Ala.
Derek Thornburg of Grenada served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were the bride’s brother, Jason Fleming of Chelsey, Keith Gant of Greenwood, Jeremy Kimbrough of Jackson and Seth Hood of Collinsville, Ala.
A reception followed the wedding ceremony at the showplace residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Rushen in Cropwell, Ala.
The house was decorated throughout with magnolia leaves, cotton and rosemary and accented with burlap.
Mr. Rushen’s study was the setting for the groom’s cake, which was a two-tiered chocolate cake garnished with tuxedo strawberries.
The main dining room was the center of attention, displaying the bride’s four-tiered cake. The cake was accented with flowers matching the bride’s bouquet. Each tier of the cake was lavished with intricate cornish scrolling.
The food and entertainment continued in the backyard under a white tent lighted by twinkle lights. The light glistened across the lake as guests enjoyed the music and danced into the night.
Afterward, the couple spent their honeymoon in Key West, Fla. They returned the following week to Leesburg, Ala., where they are making their home.
