Margaret Elaine Flanagan and Michael Lucas Naaman were united in marriage at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Greenwood at 6 p.m. on Aug. 10, 2013.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Marion Flanagan Jr. of Greenwood. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Thomas Marion Flanagan and the late Mrs. Flanagan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Franklin Johnson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Anthony Naaman of Greenville. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. John Fair Lucas Jr. and the late Sethelle Lucas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Joseph Naaman.
Dr. Billy Ray Stonestreet officiated the double-ring ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by Vicki Morgan, organist, and Ray Mattox, pianist, both of Greenwood. Soloists were Cissye Gallagher and John Warren, both of Greenwood.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory Venise lace gown over an ivory Charmeuse slipdress, which featured a V-neckline in front and a low V-back accented with covered buttons and a scalloped hem. Her chapel-length veil completed her ensemble. She wore earrings borrowed from her sister, Kathryn Flanagan Evans, that were worn at her own wedding in January. The bride carried a cluster of white gardenias, white and ivory garden roses, white summer hydrangeas and white stock that were wrapped in a lace handkerchief.
Attending the bride as matrons of honor were her sister and her sister-in-law, Niki Abbott Flanagan. Serving as maid of honor was Elizabeth Lacey Naaman, sister of the groom. Serving as bridesmaids were Carling Moses Canterbury, Stribling Whites Hargett, Erin Campbell Hodges, Mary Clare Taylor Jenkins, Ellen Moore McBrayer, Caroline Herron O’Brien, Amy Beckwith Sneed and Mary Parker Flanagan Tribble, cousin of the bride. They wore floor-length blush chiffon gowns with a sweetheart neckline and featured a keyhole back. They carried nosegay bouquets of blush and ivory roses and hydrangeas. Kitty Patterson Pinkston was an honorary bridesmaid.
Michael Anthony Naaman served his son as best man. Groomsmen were William Brozovich Jr.; James Robert Evans, brother-in-law of the bride; David Hanks Flanagan, brother of the bride; Scott McKay Jonely; Thomas McGee; Walton Lee Miers IV; Hugh Douglas Muse Jr.; Julian Floyd Posecai; Benjamin Becker Sams; and Christopher Peyton Yarbrough Jr. Ushers were Richard Harold Flowers IV, cousin of the groom; Matthew Morgan Hargett; Kenneth Sindberg Ibsen Jr.; Robert Vanlandingham Poindexter Jr.; and Floyd Goza Trammel Jr.
Mary Abbott Flanagan was the flower girl, niece of the bride, and David Reid Flanagan served as acolyte, nephew of the bride. KK Toler Harrington and Emily Sumrall Murphy were Scripture readers during the ceremony. Holly Ann Pannell and Reynolds Whites served as program attendants, and the bridal proxy was Kalley Fincher Barlow. The wedding was directed by Meredith Coleman Fletcher.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Greenwood Country Club. The bride’s wedding cake was displayed in the foyer and was a five-tier buttercream confection designed by Karyn Burrus and adorned at the base and top with roses and hydrangeas. The groom’s dessert table featured a two-tiered chocolate cake adorned with an “N” initial and also had offerings of mini-cupcakes of caramel, strawberry and red velvet created by Delta Delicacy.
Each double door entering the reception area was swagged with organza shears and caught at the sides with floral bouquets. Upon entrance into the ballroom, a large oval bar was featured with a three-tiered centerpiece of roses, hydrangeas and ivy in the middle towering into the chandelier. Both ceiling niches in the ballroom were swagged with champagne organza fabric and string lights. Amanda Cottingham of The Pantry in Greenville provided all floral designs and decorations. Photography and videography were provided by Miki McCurdy and Steven Polley of InFocus Video. Guests danced to the music of DMP of Memphis.
The groom’s parents honored the couple on the eve of the wedding with a lovely rehearsal dinner held at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. A cocktail hour began the evening, followed by an elegant meal catered by The Pantry. The bride’s sister presented a photo montage set to music as a gift to the couple. On the day of the wedding, the bride and her attendants enjoyed a morning brunch with manicures and hair styling at the The Parlor, hosted by friends of the bride. Meanwhile, the groom and members of his wedding party were also honored by family friends with a golf outing at the Greenwood Country Club.
Following a honeymoon trip to Playa Mujeres Resort in Cancun, Mexico, the couple is at home in Greenwood, where the bride is a speech therapist at Winona Manor and the groom is employed by Charter Medical of Greenville.
