Dr. and Mrs. SR Evans Jr. of Greenwood announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Claire Wilkinson Evans, to Brian Lee Martin of Nashville, Tennessee.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of the Rev. Thomas Russell Martin and the Rev. Theresa Kay Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Armon Nell Hitchcock and the late Mr. Hitchcock of Ooltewah, Tennessee, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Russell Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. SR Evans of Greenwood and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lampton Wilkinson of Jackson.
Miss Evans is a 1995 graduate of Pillow Academy, where she was the valedictorian and a member of the Hall of Fame, and a 1999 cum laude graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. While at Birmingham-Southern, she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and served on the Honor Council. She was presented by The Debutante Club of Mississippi in 1996. In 2003, she received a Master of Education degree in organizational leadership from Vanderbilt University.
She is employed as a client account executive at athenahealth in Nashville. In Nashville, she is a sustainer of the Junior League of Nashville and active volunteer with Book 'Em/Reading is Fundamental.
Mr. Martin is a 1995 graduate of Red Bank High School, where he was named a National Merit Finalist. He was accepted into the honors program at Florida State University, where he received a National Merit Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio arts.
He is named on international and United States patents for gas products and is employed as a gas product specialist at Electrolux Major Appliances North America in the Gas Technology Organization.
The couple will exchange vows at 5 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville. The Very Rev. Timothy E. Kimbrough will officiate. A reception will follow at Union Station Hotel.
