Suzanne Michelle Downs and James Taylor Shaw, both of Carrollton, were united in marriage at 2 p.m. May 23, 2009, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Carrollton.
The Rev. Duane Jensen officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Charlie and Sandy Downs of Carrollton.
She is the granddaughter of Dan Downs of Greenwood and the late Betty Downs and Sue Ables of Yazoo City and the late Otho Ables.
The groom is the son of Gil and Rita Shaw of Carrollton.
He is the grandson of Virginia Kendrix of Winona and the late Ben Taylor “B.T.” Shaw and Dalton and Emma Alford of Carroll County.
The bride wore a white, all-over pearl-beaded lace trumpet dress with halter neckline and chapel train. She carried a bouquet of white and yellow daisies and roses.
Elizabeth Downs of Carrollton served as maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Brittany Upchurch and Jade Wrenn, both of Carrollton. Breanna Moss of Yazoo City served as junior bridesmaid.
Christopher Shaw of Greenwood served as best man.
Groomsmen were Jeremy Downs and Kendall Downs, both of Carrollton. Matthew Downs of Carrollton served as junior Groomsmen.
Maggie Jennings of Blackhawk was the flower girl.
Trace Schmitz of Greenwood was ring bearer.
Ushers were Brent Wiggins of Carrollton, Jacob Moss of Yazoo City and Joey Kovarcik of Cleveland.
Following the ceremony, a reception honoring the couple was held at Carrollton Community House.
Upon returning home from their honeymoon trip to Emerald Isle, N.C., the couple will reside in Cleveland.
The bride is a 2009 graduate of Carroll Academy. She is a student at Delta State University in Cleveland.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Carroll Academy and a 2005 graduate of Mississippi Delta Community College.
He is employed as a service technician at AT&T in Cleveland.
