Marsha Cobb of Memphis announces the engagement and forthcoming wedding of her daughter, Amanda Leigh Cobb, to Meredith Baird Allen Jr. The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Thomas Scott Cobb.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Baird Allen of Greenwood.
He is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Julian Allen Jr. of Indianola and the late Mr. Robert Julian Allen Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson Capps Jr., formerly of Cleveland.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Benn of Memphis and the late Mr. Robert Benn and the late Bessie Scott Cobb.
Miss Cobb is a graduate of Evangelical Christian School and the University of Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science. She will graduate in May 2011 from Belmont University with a doctorate in occupational therapy.
Mr. Allen is a graduate of Pillow Academy and the University of Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a CFA charterholder.
He is employed at Vining Sparks IBG in Memphis.
The couple will exchange vows on Jan. 1, 2011, at The Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis.
Meredith Allen, father of the prospective bridegroom, will attend as the best man. Ashley Young, sister of the bride-elect, will attend as the matron of honor.
After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Memphis.
