Clara Brown of Moorhead announces the engagement and upcoming marriage of her daughter, Janet Denise Brown, to Derrick Lamon Thompson Sr. of Itta Bena.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Diane J. Thompson of Greenwood and the late William Anthony Thompson.
He is the grandson of Bernice Johnson of Greenwood and the late Thadeus Johnson Sr.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the Lila Washington.
Miss Brown is a 2004 graduate of Gentry High School and attended Mississippi Delta Community College. She is employed at Viking Clinic.
Mr. Thompson is a 1999 graduate of Leflore County High School and attended Mississippi State University. He is employed as a football coach.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the Indianola National Guard Amory. The Rev. K. Randle will officiate. A reception will follow at the National Guard Armory.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend.
