The United Way of Leflore County is gearing up for its annual one-day fundraiser.
The United Way All-In Event will be held Friday at the Greenwood Country Club. This year’s event will include tennis, golf, bingo, a silent auction, a drawdown, and food and fun.
“The board of directors and I are excited to be able to offer the All-In Event in its entirety this year. After not being able to do the indoor evening event with the silent auction last year, we believe we are back bigger and better than ever for our Aug. 6 fundraiser,” said Courtney Kimmel, executive director of the United Way of Leflore County. “With almost $52,000 in sponsors, and over $15,000 in silent auction items, the community of Greenwood has once again shown its support of United Way and the 13 local nonprofits we serve. We hope everyone in the community can come out on Friday and enjoy the event.”
Last year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the event was modified to comply with health and safety guidelines and did not include its usual evening of festivities.
“United Way is thrilled to be back this year with our annual All-In Event, after hosting an altered event in 2020,” said Lindsey Uithoven, United Way of Leflore County president. “Local Greenwood businesses have been extremely generous, and I am optimistic that this will be our best event to date.”
Cannon Motors of Mississippi is the sixth annual event’s title sponsor.
The United Way of Leflore County supports ArtPlace Mississippi, Beacon Harbor, Boy Scouts of America, Boys & Girls Club Greenwood and Mississippi Valley State University units, Community Food Pantry, Delta Grace, Girl Scouts Heart of the South, Greenwood Interfaith Ministries Community Kitchen, Fuller Center for Housing, Leflore County 4-H clubs, Leflore County Humane Society and The Salvation Army. All proceeds from the All-In Event help fund these 13 nonprofit agencies.
“All money generated from this event stays in our community,” said Uithoven. “Courtney and the board have worked hard on this event with the support of all of our sponsors, and we are all hoping to see everyone there.”
For the first time, the All-In Event featured a tennis tournament last year. The winners are Mary Key Britt, left, and Neely Young. The event will again include a tennis tournament sponsored by Greenwood Drugs.
The event will begin at noon with a tennis tournament sponsored by Greenwood Drugs. Eight teams are registered.
A golf tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. All 18 golf teams have registered and been filled by local sponsors. Multiple prizes will be given out, such as Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Hole-In-One, Most Accurate Drive and a putting contest.
From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., bingo will be held in the Country Club’s ballroom. Light refreshments will be provided. The cost to play is $25 per player for an unlimited number of cards. Eight games will be played, and prizes will be awarded.
Always an All-In Event favorite, the silent auction will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The silent auction will feature more than 90 items, including artwork, tools, pottery, home accessories, jewelry, spa treatments and more.
From 5:30 to 8 p.m., the event will feature food, drinks and fun, including the drawdown that begins at 6:30 p.m.
The drawdown will be held both at the Greenwood Country Club and on Facebook Live. Tickets are $100, and the grand prize is $5,000. Conerly’s is the drawdown sponsor this year, and an additional nine gift cards to Conerly’s will be awarded throughout the drawdown. Those who purchase a ticket do not have to be present to win.

On top of Cannon’s sponsorship, the All-In Event has more than 60 additional sponsors this year through its variety of sponsorship levels. In addition to food and beverage and golf team sponsors, there are also Community Pride, Friends of United Way and Helping Hands sponsorships.
Kimmel said the United Way of Leflore County appreciates the support of all the local businesses that are sponsoring this year’s event.
Tickets are $25 at the door, and each ticket includes one free drink and food. A drawdown ticket will serve as admission for one individual.
