First Presbyterian Church’s 36th annual Singing Christmas Tree will be held tonight.
The event will start at 7 p.m. in the parking lot across from the church, located at the corner of Main and Washington streets.
The Singing Christmas Tree was originally scheduled for Dec. 5 but had to be postponed because of inclement weather.
Tonight’s forecast calls for cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 50s, which will allow for the annual Greenwood Christmas tradition to continue.
About 100 singers will perform on the tree, which is a metal structure about 20 feet tall. The Singing Christmas Tree also consists of about 1,500 lights, all individually controlled for color and sequencing. During the performance, the tree glows brightly in shades of white, gold, blue, green and red.
The Singing Christmas Tree also features a live Nativity scene and narration of the Christmas story.
The event is free and open to the public.
