On Thursday, the chamber's Education Committee will hold its annual New Teacher Reception.
This is a chance for us to recognize and welcome new teachers to all of our city, county, private and parochial schools. It's our way of saying thanks and good luck for the upcoming school year.
Our teachers work hard without a whole lot of thanks and recognition, and we want to be sure to help our new teachers start out on the right foot.

If you know any of these teachers, be sure to pass on words of encouragement as they begin their new assignments.
Looking ahead to next week, we invite all of our new chamber members to our annual New Member Reception and Orientation. This event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 here at the chamber.
We will honor our newest members and tell them how to make the most of their chamber membership.
We'll also have lots of good food and drink, and it will be a great chance to learn more about our newest members.
If you joined the chamber in the past few months, you are personally invited to attend this event.
Be sure to check out our Web site, www.greenwoodms.com. We have been making some changes and have added new features on the site.
We've updated our photo gallery so you can get a better look at photos of chamber functions, including last week's Business After Hours at Port Eliot.
We also have introduced askJim.biz, a new feature for small businesses. Click on the icon on our home page and ask Jim any small business question you might have. He'll have an answer for you in a second or two!
You will also see the top five questions of the day featured on askJim.biz and tips and tricks for any small business. It's a great tool, and we hope everyone will take advantage of it.
And, of course, we have statistics, demographic information, industry guides, visitor and relocation information, an updated calendar of events and the most comprehensive business directory in the area.
We hope the entire community will take advantage of our great Web site.
