The City of Itta Bena will hold “Clean-up, Paint-up, Fix-up Day.”
The event will be held at 8 a.m. on Oct. 15, and the city is seeking volunteers.
Those who would like to participate should submit their names to City Hall, located at 201 Fitzhugh St. in Itta Bena, or call 299-3409 and provide their name and telephone number.
On the day of the event, volunteers will meet at the downtown park. Volunteers should also bring gloves and rakes. Garbage bags will be provided.
Some of the volunteers will paint store fronts of the downtown buildings, and the city is in need of experienced painters.
“This is an effort to improve the appearance of the downtown area,” said Itta Bena Mayor Thelma Collins.
Collins said that all businesses in the downtown area, other business owners or paint supply companies are asked to donate one or two gallons of a neutral color paint.
Business owners in downtown Itta Bena are encouraged to have their store fronts painted or to allow the volunteers to do the painting.
