Have lunch plans Thursday? A $10 ticket can purchase lunch, admission to a fashion show and a chance to purchase locally baked goods and bid on items in a silent auction — and the proceeds go toward a good cause.
It’s all happening at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity’s annual fall Bazaar. The event starts at 11 a.m. in the parish center at the church, located at 400 Howard St.
“Our bazaar is important to our church because it is a wonderful opportunity for our church members to invite the public to share in our beautiful facilities and enjoy fellowship,” said Kim Brown, co-chairwoman of the event. “At the same time, we are able to raise money that will be used to do good for the community of Greenwood.”
There will be a bake sale and silent auction throughout the event. The bake sale features items such as homemade cheese straws, salted pecans, cakes, pies, bread and casseroles — all made by members of the church.
The silent auction will feature an assortment of prizes. There will be restaurant gift certificates, a gift certificate to the new winery Williams Landing, a fish cooker, several luncheons for eight to 12 people, home goods and artwork.
Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. and features soup, salad and a dessert.
A fashion show will follow the lunch. There will be a children’s show featuring new styles from Fincher’s, and a teen and adult show, which will feature the latest styles from Smith & Co. and the trendiest ways to wear them.
All models are church members who volunteered.
The models picked clothes from the store to showcase with the help of Vicki Yeager and Paula Provine of Smith & Co.
“We’re hoping for the same success that we’ve had in the past years,” said Shawna Young, who is assisting with the event.
The fall bazaar has been an ongoing annual fundraiser at the church and benefits the church’s many outreach programs and its Nativity Day School.
“This bazaar is put on by the Episcopal Church women and would not be possible without the time and talent of many volunteers at Nativity. We’re blessed to have outstanding cooks that will prepare lunch and the bake sale items,” said Brown. “I encourage everyone to join us for food, fellowship and fun.”
Purchasing tickets in advanced is encouraged; however, they will be available at the door.
