The historic Black Hawk School will host an evening of live bluegrass, country and gospel performances on Saturday.
The featured performers will be Mack Allen Smith & The Flames and Country Jack Harper & the Silver Eagle Band
The live entertainment will start at 6 p.m. with a gospel performance, and Country Jack & the Silver Eagle Band will perform at about 7:30 p.m.
Country Jack & the Silver Eagle Band are known for performing traditional country and western swing music. This will also be the official record release event for Country Jack’s new album, “Here’s a few I wrote, ... and a few I didn't.” The new album also signifies Country Jack’s 40 years in country music, from his entry into recording in the summer of 1975.
Half of the album is made up of self-penned material, and the other half features country music classics from his association with the genre.
Also performing as a special guest will be Sidon native and Greenwood resident Allison Faulkner.
Faulkner will also make a featured appearance with Country Jack & the Silver Eagle Band in Aberdeen on Aug. 1. This event, held in the historic Elkin Theatre, will be a stage production of all 30 of the Country Music Trail markers in Mississippi in story and in song.
Faulkner will represent Greenwood and Bobbie Gentry as the story is told of the Bobbie Gentry Country Music Trail Marker, located at the Tallahatchie Bridge. She will sing “Ode to Billy Joe” and other Gentry classics.
Country Jack said he invites all to come on down to Black Hawk and be a part of this free event.
The Black Hawk Homemakers Club will sell concessions.
